Job Description: The Line Mechanic performs hands-on maintenance, inspection, and repair on Atlas Air Ambulance's fleet to keep aircraft safe, airworthy, and mission-ready at all times. Working closely with aircrew, the Director of Maintenance, and flight operations, this role troubleshoots airframe, engine, hydraulic, and avionics systems; documents all work to FAA, Part 135, and manufacturer standards; and supports both scheduled maintenance and time-sensitive repairs that minimize aircraft downtime. As part of a 24/7 air medical operation, the Line Mechanic also partners with Line Service Technicians on ramp and hangar duties — fueling, towing, servicing, and general upkeep — and must be available for varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with occasional travel to support off-site maintenance.


Responsibilities:

Inspections:
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections with aircrew to ensure airworthiness and safety of flight.


Repair:
  • Troubleshoot airframe, engine, hydraulic, and avionics systems and coordinate with Director of Maintenance to determine repair action on site or off site.


Compliance:
  • Document all maintenance actions strictly in accordance with FAA standards, company 135 requirements, and manufacturer specifications.


Air Medical:
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on air medical equipment as needed.


Logistics:
  • Coordinate with flight operations and management team to minimize aircraft downtime.


Travel:
  • Occasionally travel with the aircraft to provide off-site maintenance support during scheduled and un-scheduled inspections/repairs

  • Atlas Air Ambulance is a 24/7 operation.

  • Availability on days, nights, weekends and holidays.


Collaboratively work with Atlas Air Ambulance Line Service Technicians to:
  • Safely move and position aircraft in and out of the hangar and on the ramp

  • Fuel aircraft in accordance with company procedures and safety standards

  • Sump fuel tanks and monitor fuel quality

  • Track fuel usage, maintain fuel logs, and place fuel orders as needed

  • Perform basic aircraft servicing, including oil and oxygen (O2)

  • Maintain cleanliness of the hangar, ramp, and surrounding property

  • Assist with general facility maintenance and upkeep

  • Perform other duties as needed to support efficient hangar and flight operations


Qualifications:

Certification:
  • FAA-issued Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is required.


Experience:
  • 3 years of hands-on aviation maintenance experience, preferably on turbine-powered aircraft.

  • PC-12 and Air Medical experience is a plus.

  • Line maintenance experience is preferred.


Skills:
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Proficiency with both digital diagnostic tools and standard mechanic tools.


Background:
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
